Clyde Gateway invests £1.67m in commercial refurbishment of former Orange Lodge

Clyde Gateway is investing £1.67 million to renovate Olympia House in the heart of Bridgeton Cross, creating 350 square meters of retail office space.

The regeneration project has appointed contractors Redpath Construction to oversee work on the two-storey red sandstone building.

The aim is to retain the conservation elements, while creating open-plan floors, a double-height upper floor, a new public entrance and a new platform lift to improve accessibility.

The building will be renamed New Olympia House and is expected to accommodate 20 full-time or equivalent jobs in the area.

Clyde Gateway purchased the former headquarters of the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland in December 2020.

Ian Manson, Managing Director of Clyde Gateway, said: “It’s great to see work starting to convert another historic building in Bridgeton and add new premises to create more jobs in the business center at the fastest growing in the country.

“While preserving its heritage and original features, New Olympia House will be a contemporary retail space with exceptional walking, cycling and public transport links, with regular trains serving the adjacent Bridgeton station.

Susan Cardwell, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Redpath, said: “This will be a challenging and exciting project which will transform a well-known building in Glasgow into a modern office, whilst retaining all the character of the Original Olympia House.

“Redpath is currently delivering a refurbishment of Bridgeton Health Center and we look forward to commencing work on New Olympia House to support the continued regeneration of Glasgow’s East End.
