Cuba considered the gateway to Latin America for Belarusian producers

MINSK, July 28 (BelTA) – Cuba is the gateway to Latin America for Belarusian producers, Cuban Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez told reporters in Minsk on July 28, learned BelTA.

“Relations between Belarus and Cuba are quite strong. We cooperate on a wide range of issues. Today we will visit the National Academy of Sciences to discuss specific projects. We really like the Belarusian approach to science. This is the approach we are trying to implement in Cuba today. We are aiming for cooperation in R&D and manufacturing,” noted Ambassador Santiago Perez Benitez. “We must maintain relations between our countries at a high level. We must consolidate and deepen them, cooperate in health care, science, transport technology.

“Cuba is the gateway for Belarusian producers to Latin America,” the ambassador said. “For us, Belarus is the gateway to the Eurasian Economic Union. We are taking a strategic approach to relations with Belarus, which is a brother country for us,” he added.

The House of Representatives welcomes a delegation from the Cuban Center for the Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (CECMED) and the Finlay Institute of Vaccines led by Vicente Vérez Bencomo, the developer of the Cuban vaccine against COVID-19, Deputy of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, Hero of the Republic of Cuba. The parties are to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation in medicine and the use of Cuban vaccines against COVID-19 Soberana and Soberana Plus in Belarus.
