Siouxlanders land at Sioux Gateway Airport after vacation trip

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – It’s Christmas Eve and residents of Siouxland and the United States are boarding planes to see loved ones during the holiday season.

It’s a sight that can be seen at many airports this holiday season – families get together for the holidays.

A Siouxland family stopped at Sioux Gateway Airport to pick up their son.

“We’re so excited. He’s coming from Pittsburgh and we’re spending the week with him. We don’t see him too often. We really look forward to him. And our grandsons who are here have no idea what the hell is going on. arrival of Uncle Adam, so it’s an added surprise for them, ”said Augie Nicolai.

And with just two terminals, holiday traffic at Sioux Gateway did not pose a problem or delay the Nicolai family’s reunion.

“The airport is 15 minutes from where we live and that makes it fun. We don’t have to fight the crowd. We are there, we come to pick it up, we give extra hugs, we bring it home, we bring it home. It’s great, ”said Augie Nicolai.

Adam said he was happy to be back in Siouxland, just in time for Christmas.

“It feels good. Finally, go see my parents. My nephews. My sister and my brother-in-law. Once, twice a year sometimes. So it’s nice to be able to be together for the holidays,” said Adam Nicolai.

And if you ask Augie what her favorite part of the vacation is …

“Spending time together. Full stop. That’s it. Doing silly things, laughing. We’re actually going to decorate our tree this afternoon as a family for the first time in a long time. So it’s going to be very special,” a said Augie.
